God Is Not… the Author of Confusion (Part 1)

Is the Bible True? Did everything in the Bible really happen?

Join us for our second message in this online sermon series, God is Not, where we discuss the truth of the message in the Bible. Questions arose during last week’s message regarding the authenticity of the book of Job. This inspired other questions, “Is the Bible true? Did everything in the Bible really happen?” This week, we’ll delve into Jewish commentary regarding this mysterious and difficult to understand text, as we seek to better understand the character of God.

Pastor Ryan May unpacks the book of Job as allegory, parable, poetry, or true story. He explores whether the answers to those questions better point us to Jesus. During this online sermon, he also uses a Princess Bride impersonation to illustrate a point.

What happens when what you’ve always believed is challenged? “Is the Bible true?” Will we have a crisis of faith?
Will our research of the Talmud and the Torah bring us any closer to an answer around the authenticity of the text? And does the veracity of the story reveal more to us about God, or does the story of Job hold power for us no matter what?

“I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.” Job 19:25

Other scriptures from today’s sermon:
Romans 6:1 – 2
1 Corinthians 14:33
Genesis 6:5
